Matt Maser (Plymouth, MI) outplayed and outstayed the field to capture his first TPC title.

Unexpectedly, Ron Clifton (Plainwell, MI) and Coree Raden (Kalamazoo, MI) were unable to finish the tournament, departing after the 3rd round.

By their exodus, Maser improved his position by 24 strokes, going from 2nd place (13 strokes behind) to 1st place (11 strokes ahead).

Nonetheless, Maser’s final round 72 was good enough for an 18 shot triumph.

“Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago,” proclaimed Maser.

Other top five finishers were 2nd Karl Nagy (Plymouth, MI), 3rd Mark D’Antonio (Dearborn Heights, MI) and tied 4th Andy Kurncz (Dearborn, MI) and Louis Song (Garden City, MI).

Last year’s champion, Kurt Goetzke (Canton, MI), finished in 6th place.

Noteworthy – Clifton and Raden became the first players in TPC history to be DQ’ed.
