Nothing was going to keep Brent Prezter (New Haven, MI) from his goal of a TPC crown.

Pretzer began Saturday’s final round in 7th place, three strokes behind leaders Kurt Goetzke (Berkley, MI) and Karl Nagy (Simpsonville, SC).

His brilliant opening nine of 42 put him back into contention, and his sparkling 40 coming home cemented his first victory.

Hoisting the Lawler Trophy above his head, Pretzer announced “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”

Chris Lemmon’s (Richmond, VA) bid at back-to-back TPC titles fell just shy, as he finished five shots behind Pretzer in 2nd place.

Players tied in 3rd place were Goetzke, Nagy and Matt Maser (Louisville, KY).

Noteworthy – Nagy’s 3rd place finish earned him three HoF points, pushing his total to the required 40 for Hall of Fame induction, where he joins Steve Lawler (Chesterfield, MI – 2011).
